Dream Big Garden Launch August 2009
SA Garden and Jenna Clifford launch the second Dream Big garden at the Lifestyle Home Garden Centre
The second Dream Big garden was launched at Lifestyle Home Garden Centre on Saturday the 29th of August 2009 in partnership with SA Garden and Lifestyle Home Garden Centre. Special guest of the day, Jenna Clifford, said that the garden is “a symbolic conceptualisation of man’s positioning (and relation to) the world. Telling the story of man and the world, of man and woman, intertwined and yet dependent on each other for survival. The lifestyle landscaping team did a fantastic job, they have certainly Dreamt Big!”
Jenna Clifford – MDG3 Torchbearer, philanthropist and internationally acclaimed jeweller – commented that this event was the perfect way for her to celebrate her centenary year. Jenna (Founder and Director of Jenna Clifford Designs) turns 50 on the 11th of September.
Dream Big by Design
Inspired by the principles of gender equality, the garden comprises a balanced and structured design made up of two distinct parts joined by a pathway and a stunning urn water feature. Energy and natural abundance give life to the Dream Big garden – it is a nest of inspiration; a living symbol of the potential that exists within each one of us. The water feature at the centre of the garden is visible from every vantage point. It provides a tranquil and contemplative setting in which you can sit and reflect. Repetitions of the rose and the lettering ‘Dream Big’ are constant and symbolic reminders of the purpose of the garden, providing inspiration and motivation to fulfill our dreams and to provide the means to fulfill the dreams of others.
Jenna Clifford’s signature symbol – the rose – is featured throughout the garden. It is the emblem of love, passion, beauty and truth, and it is the landmark element of the distinctive Jenna Clifford Dream Big philosophy. It also represents the inspiration for excellence and the promise of abundance.
Celebratory Launch Day
Guests that attended the launch of the garden were entertained by female MC, amusement star extraordinaire and Jenna Clifford Dream Big Ambassador – Gera Phielix. With an extensive history in the theatrical and music industry, Miss Phielix was a real treat. Donned the, “legendary Gera” – actress, singer, dancer, songwriter and musician Gera had all guests in utter amazement with her lively and quirky personality, her “one woman show” tribute to Jenna Clifford and Ryk Neethling (founders of the Dream Big initiative) and much later, her performance of the official ‘Dream Big’ song – written and produced by Gera herself for Dream Big.
The dynamic duo - Heinz and Alette Winckler – also gave a stunning performance on the day with local celebrities attending including Liezl Van Der Westhuizen, Terence Bridget, Deon and Hanli Opperman, Cat Andrews and Unathi of Metro FM to mention a few. The Dream Big Ambassadorial team – featuring Ryk Neethling, Rosie Motene, Brendan Currin, Jennifer Su, Tazz Nginda were also present and mingling with the guests on the day.
Delectable Dream Big treats by the one and only - Franz the Power Chef were served. Champagne was provided by Distell, healthy refreshments by Appletiser and indulgent chocolate from Lindt (Master Swiss Chocolatiers). Canderel also hosted a very special coffee and smoothie bar while Sandown Motors previewed the new Mercedes Benz E-Class Coupé, which AUTO BILD readers voted the most attractive newcomer in the Coupé and Cabriolet category.
An all round good vibe ensured the morning to be a memorable one. A big thank you to Lifestyle Home Garden Centre for hosting the day, which ended with an appeal from Jenna, “We need to grow South Africa – let us grow in all avenues and continue to Dream Big.”
